That individuals within the black and minority ethnic communities will not suffer from preventable and treatable cancer due to a lack of awareness or information.



MISSION

To address the cultural and emotional needs of people within the black and minority ethnic communities affected by cancer.

•  to raise the awareness of cancer .

•  to provide culturally appropriate and relevant information on all aspects of cancer care.

•  to provide essential advocacy and support services to those affected by cancer within our client group, as well as their carers, families and friends.

•  to exercise a responsible influence on the provision of health and social care services, ensuring they are sensitive to the culturally diverse needs of the black and minority ethnic communities.

• to work in partnership with other cancer agencies in the provision of advice, information and services which are appropriate and relevant to the black and minority ethnic communities.


OBJECTIVES


• to provide information and advice which is up-to-date and relevant to our client group.

• to provide a counselling service for the patient, family and carers throughout the illness journey and bereavement counselling as appropriate.

• to provide community outreach work to engage the hard to reach black and ethnic communities and raise awareness on all aspects of cancer care.

• to provide welfare assistance and sign-posting to support agencies.

• to facilitate self-help and support group networks.

• to work in partnership with other cancer organisations and agencies with a

similar interest to improve the lives of those living with cancer.
